Slither was absolutely genius.
Mirrors is a great film, you're idiots.
Evil dad rise was awesome! The amalgam at the end was crazy
I absolutely disagree that acting was better in the more modern IT. The original had a stellar cast and no one can beat Tim Curry when it’s comes to being a scary af clown. I’m not saying the acting was worse in the modern version but it certainly wasn’t better.
curse of chucky had a great one towards the end where Chucky began the chant to take over alice's body, the camera pans away and her other grandma jumps up, being suffocated in a bag thanks to chucky
Wasted is putting it lightly.
The car jump scare in Smile was great, too bad they showed it in the trailer
Would it be too Meta if we called it Nasfera2
The only thing the ANOES remake did better was have the implication Freddy could be innocent. But then they went the obvious route and made his character worse than ever by outright telling everyone he was a kiddy fiddler etc.
The thoughtfulness and consideration evident in this community are truly commendable. It's a safe space for open and honest exchange.🍓
I liked the Nun, predictable but not bad, my wife shit herself enough
Classy
I found it enjoyable, think they’re doing a 3rd movie

I have to disagree on Let me in vs Let the right one in. The original was far superior in my opinion and the story much closer to the source material.
The IT remake is nothing but "bang!" jumpscares. That's not scary. It's having quiet moments and then playing a loud bang to make audiences jump, and the filmmakers calling it a good scare because of it. That's not horror. It's ear assault.
There is definitely a big difference in being startled and being scared. Scared takes true horror. It's extremely hard to achieve and sticks with a person after they see the movie.
I knew you guys were gonna fumble this. The best remake is in fact, The Thing. It's a remake of The Thing From Another World (1951)
Kane hodder is a joke dont know why he gets so much credit he was just a guy in a suit and freddy backstory in the tv show was better and they brought back the pedo to also 2017 it suck
I believe Lila from Psycho is one of the most unsung characters PERIOD. She never backed down, she DEMANDED answers, SHE DIDNT LET MEN WALK ALL OVER HER, and in the 98 remake, SHE AT LEAST GOT TO KICK THE MURDERING BASTARD! One of the reason I love that version as well as the superior original. Yes underrated woman character, but underrated CHARACTER full stop most of all!
I am surprised that they didn't mentioned The Faculty which was a really great movie that stared Elijah Wood.
Nah. I think finding out who The Broken Neck Lady is was WAAAYYYYY more WTF! Like I was shook for a hot minute.
Elm street doesn't count because even in the orginial it's implied he's a kid diddler. They even have a news article within the movies that say as much. If you freeze frame Dream child around the hour mark (when Alice is researching Amanda Krueger, you'll see an article with a headline along the lines of child mole-est-er let go on technicality....i'd argue the remake did it worse, because it's lazy writing just telling us he did it....what would've been better is if he was actually innocent...that angle they toyed with a bit was more interesting.
I loved the idea of him actually being innocent then they abandoned it. Sad...
@@kristenlogan2594 yeah. would've loved if they had the balls to keep it and made him innocent
There's was nothing better about the 2010 Nightmare On Elm Street. Nothing at all!
Yes it is. It isn't camp like the original.
@@JulioGomezNYCthe original wasn’t camp either. What are you even talking about? Freddy was legitimately scary in the original movie. Lol.
@@damonika09 dude. It's pretty cheesy. Which is why it kept getting more absurd and camp as the sequels kept coming. This got rid of that and was better for it.
@@JulioGomezNYC I watched the original movie. It definitely was NOT cheesy. It only started getting cheesy till like the third movie! Freddy in the first and second movies was a threat just like remake Freddy.
@@JulioGomezNYC and no it was not. It sucked big time.
Muschietti apparently didn’t use CGI, except for touch ups. He’s incredibly annoyed people don’t realize he went with practical effects for almost everything.
The creature from The Reptile reminds me of the Harlequin babies. I wonder if the look was inspired by that horrible condition.
When my friend and I were walking out Nightmare remake I said to her “I don’t like that they made him a PDF.” My friend said he was a PDF in the first movie and I said no he was child killer in the first movie. She asked me what real difference was. I asked her would she rather be R and murdered or just murdered? She said good point. Making Freddy a PDF lessoned his scariness and was insulting. Freddy didn’t need the extra back story. He was perfect the way he was. As a child murderer.
As the survivor of childhood SA, it’s clear you have no concept of the lifelong pain and trauma. I genuinely wish I was dead sometimes 🤦♀️ Do not speak, on that which you do not understand.
Freddy is a PDF file in the original movies though? Dream Warriors confirms this
He always was a Pedo. It's established in the movies and the TV show.
Valid points on how in some cases, expanding more on backstories, and more can help remakes, somewhat, as it helps to make things feel less vague than they did in the original at times. One horror remake I rather liked was the 2003 take on Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and this from a horror fan with a visual impairment.
The 06 black Xmas my fav fr
I think the original Nightmare is better its a classic the remake not so much
Who writes this garbage? Imagine a horror movie channel whining about violence in a horror movie. These snowflakes are pathetic.
I genuinely love the Nightmare On Elm Street remake. I get that it's not perfect, but I never got all the hate. The original is good but it's still not perfect either. The remake does have problems, don't get me wrong, but I think that it's not nearly as bad as everyone says. It's definitely not the worst movie in the series either
exactly. it's almost as if people forgot about Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare
@@denyol2846 And the 5th movie, And that even the second one sucks. A lot of people also underplay how amazing Jackie Haley was as Freddy.
‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ I'm shocked every time it's bad mouthed
It was OK. As a kid growing up on the original series, it isn't the same without a smart mouthed Freddy. JEH was a little to monotone and lacked body movements. Still good though.
You honestly took the words out of my mouth, completely agree
I didn't like that the Jackie Earl Haley Freddie was a pervert, because Rorschach hated perverts.
wow, it's almost as if actors can play 2 different types of character
Freddy was like that in the original series
Grounding Suspiria to a real life event is probably the smartest move that Mr Guadagnino chose to do. He gave that story dread and heft added to it. It also blurred the lines of who exactly is for good or evil while giving the students more of a threat: GROOMING naive ones to do their bidding. IM A STAUNCH FAN OF BOTH HIS AND MR ARGENTOS VERSION! But, the one criticism I give 77s is its fantastical/Disney nature. Theres not much of a story other than she comes, she finds witches, she kills the mother, and runs away into the night. FABULOUS AUDIO/VISUAL EXPERIENCE as it is, the stakes for most of the students weren’t truly apparent unless they went poking around.
100% agree
love both Let The Right One In and Let Me In but I wish the remake would have shown more of the pool kill I would have loved to see her going in on them
The IT remake is not better than the miniseries. It's not even all that faithful to the novel.
I disagree
The nostalgia is talking
Snyder’s dawn of the dead is a favorite 🔥
Almost no horror movie is scary, so you can't insult the first Friday the 13th for not being scary.
Perhaps to you.
@@Bluesit32 or anyone that can even mildly handle horror.
@@cppblank People watch horror movies because they WANT to be scared.
@Bluesit32 yes, but if you watch many of them it quickly makes you desensitized and nothing is scary anymore. They also become super predictable which makes it harder to be scared.
@@cppblank Then the problem isn't that the movies aren't scary, it's that you're desensitized.
Black Christmas 06 was pretty good. To be talking about horror and complaining about something being too violent is a strange choice.
My issue was giving Billy a backstory. To say nothing of the needless twist the remake added. In the original, we aren't even sure if his name really is Billy or if that's just some nonsense he mutters under his breath. We don't NEED to know who he is. ...he certainly doesn't need to be yellow.
@@Bluesit32it would just be fucking boring then. OG did it best because it was suspenseful and it had such good writing. 2006 remake did great bc it’s fun. 2019 remake is… no comment
excessive violence ≠ horror
It's WCH, nothing they say makes sense anymore
@@kendrichbadando7950 no it wouldn’t be boring. We don’t need back stories to every psychotic killer.
Ok he/Thomas Brown Hewitt from Travis county Texas 1974 definitely doesn't chop through a bunch of millennial's on that bus, that's definitely a full Gen Z crowd, we're all 35 plus and would never be caught doing that dumb sh*t let alone say the dumb line of your being live streamed to a known serial killer, you forgot we grew up on Friday the 13th, Halloween, Freddy and all that shit, we're Goonies lady and we NEVER die.......🤡🤡🤡

I watched One Missed Call 2008 remake yesterday. 😂
🏅
Even though it's worse than the original 1 thing about the Wickerman remake that was definitely better than the original:they gave the Protagonist a backstory and a reason for his over the top behavior. Rather than in the original where we see sergeant Howie, turning into a wild bloodhound simply because he is an officer, a good Christian and gets no Infos from the locals, which makes sense but still looks weird, we see Nicolas cages character(can't remember the name of the role) that he's trying to rescue the girl cause he wanted retribution for the one he couldn't save at the start. If the original would have chosen to cut a music number shorter and would give us more Intel about the sergeant it would be a perfect film.
🥉
I prefer Krueger not being a pedo
🥈
So did the kids.
he was always one though. Dream Child canonizes him being one.
Being a pedo makes it more believable that he got away with it for so long, and how the parents just took it into their own hands.
@@lesyeuxsansvisage1157EXACTLY
I feel kind of bad about this, but even though I’ve religiously watched House of 1000 Corpses, every year, on Halloween, I STILL don’t know if Denise was Bill’s girlfriend (who picked a fight with Baby) or the other one. The girls are so stock that I literally can’t tell them apart.
When Freddy Krueger wants to scratch his balls, does he have to take off his knife glove? Or does he’s scratch them with like a dream ball scratcher?
🏆🥇
...he probably uses the other hand.
Hold up. The Shining had a sequel? How am I only just now finding this out?
Mathilda May's boobs made Lifeforce a CLASSIC.

The Significant Other was wicked good!
"Who Goes There" (1938) by John W Campbell *inspired* 1951's very loose interpretation "The Thing From Another World", while 1972's "Horror Express" (Cushing & Lee) also loosely borrowed the psychic elements and dropped the shape-shifting. "The Thing[s]" (1982, 2011) were much closer to Mr Campbell's original story (though dropped the psychic elements). Night/Day Watch, shapeshifters (weres, vamps) were frowned upon as "lesser" though Kat & Bear were special cases (never explained why, with only two movies and getting killed in the books).
Voodoo is in Afrika some kind of a medicine man. Hoodoo is from the Caribic and black magic. So something totally different.
